BISA First Quarter updated FY2023
Dear Burleson Independent Soccer Association Member:
As we wrap up the first quarter of fiscal year 2023 (as of September 1,2023); I would like to take a moment to thank all our volunteer board members and coaches who make our association possible. We currently have several vacant board positions and are searching for volunteers to fill these positions. If you are interested in joining the board of directors please reach out.
We registered a total of 846 kids to play soccer this fall which is right on pace with our projections. We had an unprecedented Heat wave to start our season which resulted in a delay to the start of the season. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we worked through this. Thankfully it appears that cooler weather is on it way. With that in mind here are a couple of Fall reminders:
1. We will play games in the rain.
2. Lighting is the major factor when canceling games - Summercrest is equipped with a lighting detector.
3. First lighting strike result in a 30-minute delay. IF the lighting is still present after 30 minutes the game is over. IF the game is cancelled in the first half due to lightning, it will be rescheduled. If a game is canceled in the second half, the game is considered completed and the current score will be counted as final.
4. Jackets and hoodies can be worn under a player’s jersey. All hoods must be tucked inside the player’s jersey for safety reasons.
As many of you are aware, we are experiencing an increase in cases of misconduct towards referees and toward each other out at the fields this season. I want to assure you that we take these situations very seriously and to encourage you to continue to come forward with your concerns. I know you may not always see the direct results of raising these concerns, but your concerns help to spark change that ultimately makes the association stronger moving forward. Our current Vice President, Paul Long; serves as the chairman for our Appeals & Disciplinary Committee and is always available to help with these sorts of conduct concerns. He can be contacted at vicepresident@bisasoccer.com.
Prior to the fall season, BISA again hosted referee clinic in Burleson. This resulted in eight new referees for our association.
If you would like to become a referee or know anyone who might be interested you can find more information at Become a Referee - How to Become a Referee | Texas - North (ntxsoccer.org)
We have moved backed to the renovated fields at Bartlett park. There are still some issues with a few select fields that we are working with our partners at the city to have corrected. We appreciate everyone’s patience with this.
BISA has also taken over operations of the concession stand this fall. We are hopeful that this will be an impactful source of fundraising for the association.
We would also like to remind everyone again that there are no dogs allowed at the Bartlett Complex nor the Dobson practice fields. We appreciate everyone’s help with this.
Thanks again to all our members who volunteer their time so that kids can play soccer. Please reach out me if I can ever be of any assistance.
Sincerely,
Daniel Gipson
President
