What age groups can I coach?

We offer teams from U4 through U19, and you'll typically coach your own child's age division. During registration, you can add to volunteer opportunities you'd like to coach your child's team.

How much time do I need to commit to being a head coach?

Most teams will practice once per week, or no more than twice a week depending on age group. Each practice typically last about one hour. 

A regular season runs for about 10 weekends of games, with most games played on Saturdays. Occasionally, games may be scheduled on Sundays or a weeknight to make up for weather delays or cancellations.

Do I need prior coaching experience?

Not at all! Most of our coaches are parents who volunteer their time and learn as they go. Our goal is to make coaching fun and rewarding even for beginners.

I know that I won't be available every weekend to coach. Can I still coach a team?

Yes, please register as a head coach! Once registration is complete and the coaches meeting has been held, your age commissioner can send you a conflict form to fill out, where you can request weekends, you'll need off. Please note that not all requests can be guaranteed, but every effort will be made to accommodate your schedule. This is also a great reason to have an assistant coach; they can step in and help when you're unavailable!

Can I coach the same team from last season?

Yes! Returning coaches are encouraged to continue with their previous teams if possible! 

Can I coach with another parent or assistant coach? 

Absolutely! You can list an assistant coach when registering child. Both coaches will need to complete their GotSport registration, background check, and SafeSport training before the season starts to be added to the roster. 

Where will my team practice?

Teams are allowed one night of practice on Bartlett fields. The head coaches will choose their practice day and time from the options provided by BISA. If your team would like to schedule an additional practice night, please reach out to your age commissioner for availability.
